Etiquette Tips

Etiquette Tips:

Tip:
A handshake should be firm not wimpy.  You should stand when you meet someone for the first time.  Look people in the eye when meeting or talking to them.

Tip:  Soup is spooned away from you toward the center of the bowl to keep from dripping.

Tip: Do not butter your bread directly from the butter dish. Use your butter spreader, which is placed across your bread plate. Butter one bite of bread at a time, not the whole piece of bread.

Tip:  Elbows should be kept away from the tabletop until the meal is over and all dishes have been cleared.

Tip: One does not drink a toast to oneself.  Simply hold the glass while everyone drinks to YOU, then offer a reciprocal toast saying something like, "Thank you" then everyone can drink!

Tip: Your salad fork is always your outter most fork.
